SGI Scholarship 2022-2023 in Canada has several scholarship programs designed to assist students studying business-related fields at SGI. In a commitment to helping students achieve their educational goals, SGI has partnered with universities and organizations to offer nine different scholarships with varying eligibility requirements. SGI (Saskatchewan Government Insurance) was created in 1945 and has evolved into 2 distinct operations. The Saskatchewan Auto Fund is the province’s compulsory auto insurance program, operating the driver licensing and vehicle registration system.
There are a huge range of scholarship opportunities available for university students across the world, ranging from partial scholarships which cover some tuition fees, to full scholarships which cover the duration of your studies. The majority of scholarships cover tuition fees only, leaving students to cover their own living costs.

For instance, many students from developing countries, including parts of Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe, can apply for specific scholarships, as can many students from all over the world looking to study in a STEM-related field (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).
SGI Scholarship 2022-2023 in Canada

1. SGI Anniversary Scholarship.
Application Deadline: September 30
Value: 4 annual scholarships of $2,500
Eligibility criteria;
Applicants must:
- Be a child/legal dependent of an employee of SGI CANADA, SGI or Coachman.
- Be into full-time studies in a certificate, diploma, or degree program at any post-secondary campus that is accredited.
- Make provision for proof of enrollment in the fall semester of the current year of academics.
- Have at least an average of 70% in the last academic year of study.
- Engage in the demonstration of contributions to the community, extracurricular activities or commitments made in balancing work, education, and home responsibilities.
Selection process.
All applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will be entered in a draw and notification will be sent to the winners in early October.
2. SGI Corporate Scholarship
Application Deadline: September 30
Value: 7 annual scholarships of $2,500
Eligibility criteria;
Applicants must:
- Be residing in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba, or Ontario.
- Not be a legal dependent of an employee of SGI CANADA.
- Be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate certificate
- Submit a transcript demonstrating at least an average of 70% in the last academic year of study.
Selection process
All applicants who meet the eligibility criteria in a draw will be put in a draw and notification will be sent to the 7 winners in early October.
3. SIIT Scholarships
Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) Scholarships.
Application Deadline: October 31
Value: 2 scholarships valued at $2,500
Eligibility criteria
Open to students enrolled in the Management Studies Faculty in the areas of:
- Accounting
- Management Studies Diploma
Applicants must:
- be enrolled full-time and take a full course load
- have a minimum 70% average
- have 90% attendance
If multiple applicants meet the above criteria, there will be some secondary criteria used to break ties such as:
- clearly defined career goals identified in cover letter/resume
- financial need
- number of dependents
Application Process
Students apply directly to SIIT. Students may download the application from the SIIT website or pick up applications at the Campus or program delivery sites.

Selection process
The SIIT selection committee will select the recipients and award the scholarships in December.
4. Business Insurance Diploma Scholarship.
Application deadline: Set by Saskatchewan Polytechnic
Value: 4 annual scholarships of $2,500
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
- Be enrolled full-time in year 2 of the Business Insurance Diploma Program at Saskatchewan Polytechnic Palliser campus.
- Have earned a minimum 70% average in your 1st year of the program.
- Self-declare as a diversity student with Saskatchewan Polytechnic for consideration for the designated diversity scholarship.
Selection criteria
- Academic achievement, as reflected in the overall grade point average of all classes required to complete the Business Certificate (75% weighting)
- Financial need (25% weighting).
Conditions of award acceptance
Recipients must:
- Provide Saskatchewan Polytechnic with permission to release your name and contact information to SGI.
- Share a current resume with SGI.

Students apply directly to Saskatchewan Polytechnic and can download the application from the Saskatchewan Polytechnic website or pick up an application at the Moose Jaw Palliser Campus.
5. Stan Hamilton Scholarship
Application deadline: October 31
Value: 1 annual $2,500 scholarship
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
- Be aboriginal (First Nations – Treaty or non-status, Métis or Inuit).
- Be students at First Nations University of Canada (FNUC) obtaining full-time studies.
- Maintain an overall average of a minimum of 65%.
- Show their contribution to the community, extracurricular activities or commitments made in balancing education, work, and home responsibilities.

Applications are available on the FNUC website or from the FNUC Student Success Services at 306-790-5950, ext 3100.
6. Auto Body Technician Certificate Scholarship.
Application deadline: Set by Saskatchewan Polytechnic
Value: 2 annual $2,500 scholarships
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
- Be enrolled full-time in the Auto Body Technician Certificate Program at the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Kelsey campus or the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Wascana Campus.
- Self-declare as a diversity student with Saskatchewan Polytechnic for consideration for the designated diversity scholarship.
Selection criteria
- Academic achievement (75% weighting)
- Financial need (25% weighting)
Application process
Students apply directly to Saskatchewan Polytechnic and they award scholarships each spring. Students can download the application from the Saskatchewan Polytechnic website or pick up an application at the Wascana or Kelsey Campus.
7. Risk Management and Insurance Scholarship
Application deadline: No application required
Value: 1 annual scholarship of $3,000
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a resident of Saskatchewan, Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta or Manitoba.
- Be registered in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of studies in Risk Management and Insurance (RMIN) or Risk Management and Insurance/Finance (RMIF) at the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary.
- Have a grade point average of at least 3.20.
Application process
The faculty will automatically consider all eligible students and award the scholarship in April.
8. SGI Actuarial Science Scholarship
Application deadline: No application is required.
Value: 1 annual scholarship of $2,000
Eligibility criteria;
Applicants must:
- Have successfully completed 60 or more credit hours towards a degree in Bachelor of Science, major in Actuarial Science.
- Be enrolled in ASC 116, 216, and 317 or have completed.
- Hold an average of a minimum of 80%.
Notification will be sent to recipients by October 30 annually.
10. SGI Graduate Research Grant
Application Deadline: September 30
Value: $5,000 per academic year
About
SGI’s vision is to achieve the safest roads in Canada — improving traffic safety plays a big role in that. This grant is available to graduate students whose proposed research involves engineering or human factor issues related to traffic safety.
This grant is intended to:
- Support the development of ideas that could help address traffic safety issues in Saskatchewan.
- Develop expertise and interest in graduate students in the area of road safety.
- Use the University of Regina’s expertise to broaden the scope of SGI’s traffic safety research.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
- Propose research that involves engineering or human factors issues related to traffic safety.
- Be accepted as a fully qualified graduate student at the University of Regina.
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 80%.
- Be registered full-time (minimum 6 credit hours) in the semester the award is given.
- If continuing students, be in good standing and have demonstrated satisfactory achievement in course work as well as appropriate progress toward the completion of the research requirement.
Application process
Applications for the award are available on the University of Regina website. Applicants should include a research proposal along with an outline of their relevant experience related to their project.
Applications must also be supported by a confidential letter of reference from the student’s supervising faculty member.
Selection process
The Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research Scholarship Committee will review applications, select a recipient and notify them by November 30.
